In recent news, the world has been impacted by a virus called COVID-19 that has left tremendous effects on many of the world’s countries as the doctors and many first responders are in search of a vaccine. The pandemic affected every country around the globe and devilishly infecting the global economy as some economist experts say that this will lead us into a worse recession than 2008. The United States government has passed a $2 trillion stimulus bill to help aid medical services, individuals, and businesses that are struggling to maintain business. Should the US government give this financial relief to the cruise corporations?
The $2 trillion stimulus package breaks down to $350 million to small business to maintain payroll expense, $32 billion for wages and benefits to the airline industry, a $1,200 check per individual that made less than $75,000 in 2018 or 2019, $600 in unemployment checks, and the remaining amount allocated to medical services, other impacted industries like the travel industry, and local government if needed.
The stimulus may indeed be needed to help stimulate the economy and prevent another depression. As an article from Klaas Staal mentions, “The positive effect of stimulus spending became significant in 2010. This contrasts with Klein and Staal ([23]), who found a positive and significant effect of the stimulus from the first year (2009) onwards. This is an important difference, as one of ARRA's objectives was to offer a quick response to the economic crisis (e.g., GAO [21]). It carries an important policy implication, i.e., it shows that the response to increasing Medicaid transfers, (Klein and Staal [23]), is potentially swifter than the other components that were also included in this analysis.” To help prevent an economic crisis, an increase in government spending with stimulus funds can result in a positive outcome and possibly even greater economic growth. Some will disagree that government spending will, if anything, further hurt the economy as stated in this article, “Where monetary policy had lost its conventional means of influencing the economy through interest rate decreases and the U.S. government enacted the Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009 intended as a countercyclical fiscal measure.”
As the Center for Disease Control suggests people stay ‘quarantined’ during this time to prevent the spread of this virus, the travel industry has lost almost 90% of their customers and are even flying planes carrying no passengers other than the flight crew. Many local governments and whole state governments ordering a Shelter in Place and a state of an emergency causing most ‘Essential’ businesses to stay open such as convenience stores, gas stations, banks, post office and shipping businesses, transportation, and many more. Many ‘nonessential’ business has been forced to close and/or even layoff their employees during this hardship.
Many small businesses that took people years to build; might no longer be in business after this impact on the market unless they adapt to these new conditions in the meantime. The stock market having a dreadful time this year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 23.03% on March 11 from February 12. The downturn in the stock market ended the 11-year bull market that started in 2009. Surpassing the downturn that happened on Black Monday, October 19, 1987, when the Dow fell 22.6%.
The travel industry felt a major impact or halt in business as this pandemic sparks the fear and stops travel on flights, cruises, etc. While being called an ‘essential’ service. Some sources estimating the loss of $900 billion during this pandemic in the travel industry alone. Not only affecting the current loss of business, but jobs as employers even go as far as firing people for not having money for payroll. The unemployment rate has already doubled in February since the beginning of 2020.
Many companies do desperately need financial support during this hardship, especially those companies in the travel industry. Airlines, travel agencies, and many more, but one aspect of the travel industry does not. The cruise companies, who make millions each year, have been impacted and given the nickname ‘disease ships’ as fear rises. These cruise companies technically do not reside in the United States. They reside in different countries to evade paying corporate taxes in the US. Millions of dollars have been acquired by the company that would have been paid to the US government. Carnival having vessels based out of Panama, Bahamas, and Malta. The Disney Cruise Line is based out of England. Many analysts have said that the major cruise lines do have the money to stay afloat for at least the next six months.
From 2010 to 2018, the economy grew at an average of 0.50% per year. While business was good during that time, many cruise companies have been having growth as well. The Disney Cruise Line has earned $59.4 billion in revenue during 2018. Robert Igor, the chairman, and CEO of Disney, had earned $47.5 million in the last fiscal year. Not only has Disney’s CEO earn millions of dollars every year, but many other CEO’s of other cruise corporations.
There is an article about how one business survived the Great Depression. “This was especially true of the banking sector. However, some banks did survive the Great Depression, and a few appear to have thrived in that harsh financial climate.” The First National Bank of Oxford (FNBO) was founded in 1910 and the bank’s first president was John Wasley Thompson Falkner who worked as a bookkeeper in 1918. The FNBO was the smallest nationally charted bank in Mississippi during this period according to the national average in terms of capital, surplus fund, total resources, total individual depositors account balance, dividends paid, and undivided profits. Even without much capital or money in the bank at the time, the FNBO managed to survive the Great Depression, one of the worst economic recessions in history.
The $2 Trillion stimulus package is set to help the global economy during this hardship of Covid-19. Many small businesses desperately need this financial assistance, but many of the cruise corporations, that have millions in revenue each year, maybe do not necessarily need financial assistance. With many of the major cruise corporations having enough money to stay in business at least in the next six months. Especially since many of these cruise ships are based out of various countries and not in the United States to avoid paying a corporate tax every year.

The Game Changer- Performing-enhancing drugs.
Performing-enhancing drugs: ‘nothing or relating to drug or other substances used to improve one's performance in sports or other activity requiring strength, stamina, etc.”
(‘performing-enhancing drugs.’’ Dictonary.com.)
For many years performing-enhancing drugs have been a talked-about thing forever. And how people have always said it is cheating and its bad for the sports world. But in my belief, I say it's not cheating and it's not bad for the sports world. It's in my belief that performing-enhancing drugs should be allowed in the sports world. And how it would help the game. And, those people that say those things don't understand what performing-enhancing drugs do for the body. It also would help the athletes be able to play the game longer and recover faster. There are a lot of performing-enhancing drugs form Human growth hormones, steroids, blood doping, etc. But where going to focus on the general of how performing-enhancing drugs would be great for the sports world and the athletes.
Threw Throughout the year's people have been talking badly about performing-enhancing drugs. And how they say its cheating and its wrong and its bad for the sports world. But my perspective it's not. It's in my belief that performing-enhancing drugs. Are a great thing for professional athletes. And I believe that performing-enhancing drugs should be allowed in the sports world. Has stated on Dictonary.com (it says that performance-enhancing drugs were first recorded in 1975-1980). as stated in this article (from BMJ British Journal of sports medicine. Has you read the article it states that performing-enhancing drugs have been used in sports ever since they were found). So, it is in my belief that the people that say it cheating it's not. Because the athletes have been using performing-enhancing drugs form decades. They just don’t see the athletes use performing-enhancing drugs. But if those people would look at what performing-enhancing drugs. They will be able to see the benefit that performing-enhancing drugs will help the body of the athlete's recovery faster. also, performing-enhancing drugs can allow the athletes to recover from injuring fast so they can get back to what they love doing. As stated in the article form (medicine at Michigan) the article talks about how they used HGH which is human growth hormone. Which is classified as a performing-enhancing drug. They used HGH to help repair a person torn ACL. As we dive more into this we could see if you allowed athletes to use performing-enhancing drugs for injuries and for recovery it would be a huge benefit for the athletes. Also form the (intra-articular steroid injection for patients with hip osteoarthritis: a systematic review and mete-analysis it states in this article that they used steroids to help people with hip osteoarthritis). As we look at the articles that are listed in the research and read them we can see the benefit for the use for performing-enhancing drugs in the sports world and allow athletes to use performing-enhancing drugs for injuries and recover. You can see the benefit of the uses for performing-enhancing drugs in the sports world. It would help athletes to recover from injuries fast to get back to what they love doing.
How performing-enhancing drugs would allow athletes to recover fast and play the game longer. As I talk about before as you introduced performing-enhancing drugs into the body. You will see that it will keep your testosterone level at a healthy level. As a result, it would allow for the pro athlete to recover faster in terms they will be happier because their bodies would not be in so much pain form playing for weeks and weeks on end. In therefore the game would be more fun to watch because the athletes would be able to perform at a higher level day in and day out.
It's in my belief that it should be up to the athlete to decide if they want to do performing-enhancing drugs. Not up to the people are the leagues they play in. Because I believe that performing-enhancing drugs are not cheating, and they are not bad for the sports world. They are just a supplement that allows the athletes to recover faster. And the people that say performing-enhancing drugs are cheating. What they don’t realize is that doing performing-enhancing drugs doesn’t give you instant strength or makes you instantly better. It still takes hard work and hours of practice. Also, you just don’t put performing-enhancing drugs into your body and get better than everybody else. You still got to put in the work to get there. Let's say you took a regular person and dosed them with performing-enhancing drugs. It's not going to make them a professional athlete overnight. Also, performing-enhancing drugs don’t mean you're going to be the best or be a pro athlete. All performing-enhancing drugs do is allow you to recover fast and get strong. It still takes talent to get there. Performing enhancing drugs, they're not a magic pill that allows you to be a pro athlete you still must work at whatever your try to do just because people say performing-enhancing drugs are cheating or they say their wrong. I believe that they are just there to help the athletes recover and be able to play the game longer and keep doing what they love.
Has you can see performing-enhancing drugs are not cheating or bad for the game like everybody say they are. They are a tool that should be used to help athletes recover and play the game they love longer. and it's in my belief that one-day performing-enhancing drugs will be allowed into professional sports. it's in my belief that people will stop looking at performing-enhancing drugs as cheating or bad thing and see them as a tool for the athletes. As you look at the information that I have given you will see that performing-enhancing drugs would be a great thing for pro athletes. It's in the belief that performing-enhancing drugs would change the sports world for the better.

The Foster Care System
A huge problem in our nation is our foster care system. Foster care is a temporary service provided by the state for the children who are not able to live with their family for a variety of reasons. The foster care system is supposed to help children find a better living environment and make sure that the children are protected. However, that is not the case in many situations. The foster care system is failing many children. These children are often put into foster homes where they are mistreated or not properly cared for. Some of the problems with the system include the foster care being overcrowded with foster children, they are letting teens age out of the system without the proper care, and there is not enough focus on trying to help these children get ahead in life. One of the biggest problems with the foster care system is the overcrowding. In some cases, the foster homes pack rooms with several beds in order to fit more children into the home. When having many children packed into the same room, they have less privacy. This will result in the children getting into disagreements which will often lead to fights. Another problem in overcrowded foster homes is food shortages. If a child feels as if their foster parent has given them less food than the other children in the home, they will try to fight over the food. Due to the children worrying about food, they will often hoard food. The second issue is that the system is letting teens age out of the system without proper care. To prevent this, the social workers should help provide the teen with a mentor who can let them know they are still there for them and will continue to support them as they enter a new phase in their life. People who are not social workers or foster parents can also offer teens the same support. If you or someone you know know a teen in your community who could use some support, you could become the teens mentor and provide them with support. You could also help these teens by looking into programs that provide them with the things that they need or could be useful to them such as clothes, shoes, and personal hygiene supplies. There are other organizations that provide the foster youth with college funding, scholarships, care packages, and laptops for school.
The third issue with the foster care system is that they do not focus enough on trying to help these children get ahead in life. Removing a child from a home, regardless of the reason, can be traumatic for the child. The child can suffer from trauma, which can affect every aspect of the child’s life. Most foster children have worse educational outcomes than other children. These children often dropout of school and only a few will graduate high school and continue their education. The foster care system and the schools should be alert to the challenges these children and teens may face. They should start by making sure the students have the resources they need. By helping these students succeed, they are breaking the cycle.
In order to help these children, the foster care system must improve. The system must help these children find a better living environment and make sure that they are protected. We must give these children the support system they need in order to get ahead in life. We need to help them see that they have people in their lives who care for them. This will show the foster children that they have people who still care about them and they do not have to go through things alone

Argumentation and persuasion by Cecilia Simon
Education Quality in Public Schools.
The United States of America is the third most populous country in the world. Has the largest economy. Also has the second largest higher education system. Local school districts are responsible for carrying out the state education policy at a local level. However, the distribution of the quality of educations has been considering unequal. This issue has affect thousands of children’s. They have base the distribution of the education quality in the amount of population that a county has. This has affect many school’s districts, that we consider them as poor schools. This needs to be change and fix to be able to keep improving the education in United States. The board of education needs to focus more in the way they distribute the money for schools. Students are the future of tomorrow. They deserved to have a better education.Education is the process of facilitating learning, is the development of skills and the facilitate of a better knowledge, etc. Education in general is important. Should not be the distribution of equality education too? While students in higher- income towns have an easy access to guidance counselors, school psychologist, the aces to personal laptops, they have better buildings of education, also they have an essay aces to better options of different classes including advanced classes, they have the opportunity of choose different sports and last one, they have a better menu of food. Students in lower- income towns have a situation totally different. Towns with lower income are base in the lower population they have. This has affect the schools by lowering the aces of different options for the student’s education. Most of the time they put middle schools and high school together. They do not get to have the option to bring different sports or advances classes that will help them on the future. This has been affecting the development of students. In the article called " 10 challenges facing public education today" says, " It’s been more than 10 years since the Great Recession, but many states are providing far less money to their schools today than they did before the crash. Our schools are crumbling and educators are leaving the profession in droves, unable to pay off student debt or make ends meet on stagnant salaries". This is an example and explains the reason why many school received way better money than other school. This shows how many schools get affected.
In my personal experiment I have seen the differences. I moved to United States in my last year of Middle school. I lived in Lowndes county. I enrolled Pine Grove Middle School. This school is located it in a higher - income town. We always had aces to personal computers, when it came to classes we had the opportunity to take advances classes of high school level, with the purpose of helping us for the next year that we were moving to High School. In the elective classes we had a lot to choose from music, art, PE and others. They have different sport with all equipment they need, in general they gave us a lot to choose from. Before I stared my first year of High school we moved to Lakeland county, this is a town with a really lower income. When it came to ride the bus, I found out that I had to ride it with kids from Middle School and kids from Elementary School, all of us in just one bus. Later on I saw that the middle school building it was also the high school building. The building was not in good conditions; the paint was old that made it look sad inside. When it came to choose my elective classes they only had cooking classes, music, PE and Spanish classes. Our lunch time was divided in two times. One it was for all nine and ten graders, the other one was for then eleven and twelve graders. Base on the lower income they had us basically eating the same thing every day. In sports are they offer was only Soccer, Basque-ball and Track. After my first year of high school my family moved back to Lowndes county. I moved from schools I went to Lowndes High School. It was a big changed for me. Lowndes High is a big school with a lot of students. I had to ride two different buses, one was to get to the middle school from there we took another one to go to the High school. I had again the opportunity of choose my schedule but this time my elective classes options was to many. From music, business, health care, art and others. They offer a lot sports and the better thing is that they offer college classes in the school, or they gave us the opportunity to go to the Community Wiregrass college, GMS or VSU. By my half senior year I was done with high school. I took some college classes. Also, I finished my Spanish pathway by the time I graduated from High School. I graduated with some college credits and I graduated certificated bilingual.
In conclusion, is important to keep improving the distribution of the same quality of education in all public schools. There is an urgent need to fix this and stop affecting thousands of students and teachers in towns with a lower income. They need to fix it and keep providing a better opportunity's to students. By giving teachers the enough resources to help students. This would defiantly help students to keep improving in their education and would help them to think and keep going with their education after High School. This will also help America to keep improving in the future. Kids are the future of tomorrow. All students deserve a better education.

Shelter in Place (COVID-19)
With all this commotion and controversy regarding COVID-19, I have been taking the extra precautions of isolating myself from others, public places, along with frequent handwashing. I have also been a lot more conscientious about touching my face, surfaces, and covering sneezes and coughs. During these times of uncertainty, I've even been washing my hands a little more than usual, as well as using hand sanitizer, and Clorox wipes. For example, if we bring groceries in the house, I will wash my hands right after, before I do or touch anything else. My mom wipes everything down with Clorox. My mom said she ordered a pizza, and it was a no-contact delivery. They just rang the doorbell and set it on the porch and left. When this all began, I went to a well-known sanitary restaurant drive-thru, and later that week, that specific location was closed secondary to an employee testing positive for COVID-19. That incident pretty much cured me of wanting to eat out for a while, at least until we know more about this disease. Since I've been staying home, I haven't gotten takeout or fast food again, because I'm trying to minimize my risk of being exposed to COVID-19. What shelter in place means to me is that you need to stay home and not go out and do all your regular/daily activities.
I believe in practicing guidelines and rules set forth by corporations such as CDC. I think that we all need to practice social distancing, meaning we all should stay away from big groups of people. Eating takeout or fast food is not a necessity; it is a luxury.
Therefore, I do not think you need to get food from restaurants because you don't know who or what those employee's exposure was. Why wouldn't you want to take that extra precaution if it could help to save your life or someone else's? According to statistics with the WHO and CDC, if you frequently visited public venues such as stores or restaurants, your probability of contracting is more significant, therefore your risk of spreading the disease is increased. During these times, the CDC encourages you to stay home in a global pandemic; you should do so. CDC is not out there trying to ruin everyone's summer, but if we ALL together don't take precautions to COVID-19, we won't have anything back to normal. This virus is so serious that they had to cancel all professional sports such as the MLB, NFL, NBA & NASCAR. They have canceled all these professional sports to lower the spread of the virus because there are several people who attend. They have also canceled all schools, and they've never had to do anything like this before because they have never seen a virus this serious. On my behalf of the government canceling these things, I believe that it was the smartest and safest precaution to take by not letting large amounts of people gather and spread the virus.
Although there are pros and cons, staying at home would be a benefit of minimizing your exposure to COVID-19, and you're also generally slowing down the spreading process of the virus. A disadvantage of shelter in place would be since you're staying home isolating, you won't be doing your normal activities of hanging with friends or family or going out anywhere that is unusually large groups of people. Another disadvantage would be that whenever you go to the store or your essential job, you're putting yourself and your entire household at risk since the others stay home, and you have to go out to get essentials at the grocery store or your job. Essential workers are currently putting their lives at risk going out to work every single day, which enables them to receive a paycheck for their family. Also, if more people would stay home and quarantine, it'll help the virus slow down and potentially clear up faster and give everyone their healthy lifestyle back. However, being quarantined will make you slow down and think about life and to learn to value/treasure it and not take it or anything for granted. By practicing sheltering in place, a person who has a non-essential job, their job will close, and they will be out of work. You will also not be allowed to do any social gatherings of any kind, which will minimize your exposure to other people. For example, if you were to go to a park with many people attending while you're there, you don't know what someone else has. You will not be able to look at someone and tell if they have COVID-19. If you or a loved one were to test positive to COVID-19 and were in the hospital, you would be in there alone because the hospital is not letting anyone into the building no matter the condition or circumstances. By not giving people permission to be in big groups, they are cracking down on minimizing public gatherings and person to person contact.
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is the main reason for the current shelter in place order, and as much as people want to believe it or not, it literally won't kill you to stay home for two weeks. The state of Georgia has ordered the shelter in place to people with non-essential jobs to slow the spread and protect everyone from the virus. As crazy as the shelter in place sounds, it will most definitely help us all out, in the long run, no matter what people say. Statistics show from these other countries, that isolation is a way to slow the spread and to give the scientist time to come up with more data to support a cure. When people do not follow the shelter in place and all the safety precautions, it makes this virus become a vicious cycle that repeats itself over and over. With all that's been going on people aren't looking at the big picture and it really shows because the virus is spreading quickly. Everyone needs to quarantine themselves in their houses and they should be acting to all the safety precautions listed. You need to wash your hands thoroughly, don't touch your face, eyes, nose, mouth. Also, stay away from someone that is or has been sick. We can all avoid COVID-19 if we take the right precautions.
People think that COVID-19 is just the lousy flu, but they're profoundly mistaken. The reason the numbers are so high in fatalities is that it's a virus we've never seen before, and the CDC is highly aware of that. However, most people aren't aware of all the reasoning behind the shelter in place agreement because only about 50% of people are staying home when it needs to be 80%-100%. COVID-19 begins in your lungs, it then spreads via droplets such as coughing and or sneezing. The virus begins as a mild illness in the upper raspatory tract, which is then followed by non-life-threatening pneumonia. After a week severe pneumonia with acute raspatory distress syndrome can progress rapidly and sometimes need life support. The CDC states that older adults mainly but any person with serious underlying medical conditions might be at risk for a severe illness of COVID-19. An example of an underlying medical condition would be asthma and or high blood pressure, and people with HIV are at risk. CDC states that this virus is so serious because it is nothing like they've ever seen before. However, they are trying their best to come up with medicines and using different remedies to cure COVID-19.
COVID-19 is currently spreading faster and faster as more and more people aren't listening and staying home. It's generally spread from person to person through droplets. For example, when someone who has COVID-19 sneezes and or coughs, those droplets are then airborne. Whenever the droplets are airborne, people inhale the droplets into their lungs, and if they don't have a healthy immune or respiratory system, they could potentially be in harm's way. It also spreads through direct contact. So, by touching a contaminated surface or being closer than 6 ft, you can be at risk for contracting. The CDC encourages everyone to stay at least 6ft apart at minimum at all costs!
